If you need GAP insurance, you are buying a vehicle you can not afford. If you can not put at least 20% down and can not afford payments for a 36 month or at most a 48 month car loan, you need to buy a less expensive model or a reliable used vehicle. If you are "broke" and can not put any money down, then you are spending more than your means.
