Even if all our premises are true, we might end up with a false conclusion! How? By using invalid reasoning. Here we present four rules we can use to determine whether a categorical syllogism is valid and consider four formal fallacies aligned with these rules: equivocation, undistributed middle terms, overextended terms, and failing to follow the negative premise.
