As someone from the flat part of Colorado, all I can say is I drove through Kansas and there was literally no difference. "Who goes to Colorado and says 'I just want the flat part'?" is very true

Michigan is a quintessential midwestern state. I think Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan are top three midwestern states for sure.

Ohioan here. OH is pretty unique linguistically & culturally due to geography. The southern portion, up to about an hour north of the Ohio River is Appalachian & has a inland/mountain southern accent, Cleveland (exclusively due to migration of longshoremen to Lake Erie) has an inland north accent, easternmost Ohio has western PA colloquial language mixed with the others, the remaining part/majority of Ohio speaks midland “accent, ” also known as broadcasters’ accent—meaning no accent. For example, I grew up in the overlap area near the PA border & heard “you guys” most, but also “yins” & “y’all” occasionally—all have the same meaning & originated in different regions.

As a northwest Ohio native, I can confirm we are firmly in the Midwest. The same cannot be said for the entire state, however. So, it's complicated.
