You completely missed the point. The US was originally just the 13 colonies on the east coast, and expanded westward from there. Ohio is part of the original Midwest, which was called that because that was its geographic position at the time. The term is about a historical and cultural region, rather than about the map as it is today.

I've personally just considered anything between the Appalachian and Rockys to be Midwest. Lol
