Thyme is a herb that symbolizes healing, love, and courage. In Celtic tradition, this plant was believed to belong to the faeries, and maidens wore sprigs of thyme in their hair to attract a suitor. This folk song, "Wild Mountain Thyme", is derived from an 18th-century poem.

This song features Scottish musicians I am honored to call friends! Singing harmony is Janice Burns: she is one of the UK's finest folksingers ✨ (Check out her duo Janice Burns & Jon Doran !!) Playing accordion is the mega-talented John Macmillan from Edinburgh, who recorded with me while he was on tour in the U.S. ⭐️ Also singing harmony is Sandy Fraser, my dear friend and neighbor who taught me this song 💚 Thank y'all so much!!!
A *big* thanks to Karl Stephen Page, Jaime Rowell, and Jesse Herrin for playing on this song! 💚💚💚 Produced by Chuck Hutcheson and Frank Farr!

A 'newly discovered', more traditional version of one of my favourite folk tunes, also beautifully covered by so many folk artists of our generation.
It is however, the haunting beauty of the spirit of this tale, which like a voice enduring the mists of time, which always rings through every interpretation I have heard.
Like the Soul of an ancient building, no longer inhabited, but still alive with its memories, reaches out to those passing through, in fond greetings. 🕊️

It was written by Francis McPeake an Irish musician. He said it does have Scottish roots. Ireland and Scotland share many great tunes. ❤

Its not Scottish. It was composed by the Mc Peake family from Ulster. It's Irish. Our traditions are entwined, its a common mistake.
