How To Prime A Swimming Pool Pump - Very Easy

How to prime your swimming pool pump is one of the easiest things you can do when it comes to pool maintenance.

Get a bucket filled 1/2 with water. To turn the system off. Remove the pump lid and fill the pump pot with the water. Check the o-ring on the lid. If it's cracked or broken you need to replace it.

Quickly put the lid back on and secure it down. Turn the pump on and open the bleeder valve on the filter.

Close the bleeder valve once water starts to spray out. Check around the pump lid to be sure it fits securely and there are no leaks.

You're finished.

Same problem here in California.... has the pool service re-prime it but only lasted a few days. Just found your video and got it going in 5 minutes. But this begs the what are the common causes of loosing prime ? Because when you lose prime your pool cleaner, skimmer, sweep all stop working too and then the algae grows. So what the permanent fix ? Could it be o-rings?

What setting on pump should I have the knob in when filling it with water? Even with the switch shutdown I notice the water flying out and I'm forced to keep the lid on. The promblem I'm having is the air pressure keeps dropping from 15 to 0 in about 30 seconds. Thanks
