What does commercial SpaceX spacewalk mean for future of space exploration?

Considered one of the the most dangerous activities that can be done in orbit - a group of amateur astronauts have completed the first-ever commercial space walk.

This has been an awesome mission - highest altitude reached since the Apollo missions, the first test of a commercially developed EVA suit, and further, another great fundraiser for St Jude Children's hospital.

The tether is not just a tether, it is also a umbilical cord which severely limits the tasks that can be performed. But of course, later on the suit can be equipped with a life support package.
