Hey, if you're interested in learning more about the text to speech service (SAPI), I can tell you a bit about it:

The speech synthesizer is often used for blind accessibility with narrator. There's actually a large variety of voices available that you can download online, but some use different synthesizers. My friend wrote a basic little extension that allows game maker projects to hook up with SAPI 5 easily, but it works with other software as well. It can read strings, stop, change speed and pitch and all that fun jazz.

SAPI is kind of CPU intensive though so it tends to cause the computer to lag a bit if you're calling it a lot.
