The time has come! After my reaction to SOAD, this band came HIGHLY recommended so today I'm finally hearing Tool. We're watching the band and lead vocalist Maynard James Keenan perform the song Sober LIVE.

"I am very much looking forward to hearing more from this group..."

A sentiment shared by Tool fans since 1993.

I dare say that every fan remembers the shock when a Tool song fills a hole in your soul that you didn't even know was there.

She perfectly captured what it’s like to hear Tool for the first time. Confusion, bewilderment, but awe, excitement, and beauty.

Watching your face as you listen brings literal tears to my eyes. Tool was and is the soundtrack of my life as I moved through 10 years of addiction, 10 years of prison, and now 15 years of recovery. This song specifically means everything to me.

Welcome to Tool lady.
You can check in 25 years later, but you can never leave.

The only thing better than Tool is watching someone else experience Tool & Maynard for the first time 🔥

This song came out when I was drinking myself to death and I was very comforted to do so. My childhood was far from ideal and I just wanted to die already. This song brought me to my knees about every night back then. I haven't drank a drop since 1995 and I never will again, but, this song still hits hard even now.

4:33 she starts making the bass/stank face. The greatest compliment you can ever receive as a band/musician. Every tool fan can 100% relate to that exact moment when we first heard them. Was so cool to see her experience that. To watch that emotion wash over her

As a tool fan and an addict...she has a very true and real feeling that she can't describe. He isn't performing it, he is letting it out.

His body language during this song is cowered, self-contained, broken, irritated, almost fearful...he is fully in everything he does. His delivery is not only powerful, it's effortless.

Once she said she’s never heard Maynard before you knew she was about to get her mind blown.

I'm 73 years old, seen Tool twice, and I've watched this live version of Sober countless times (not this video by The Vocalyst). Sometimes I sit there in an awe inspired stony silence and sometimes it brings me to tears. I can't think of another song that I've heard since I started to pay attention to music in 1964 that carries the emotional power of this song. Love every Tool song but this one's special.

His voice is unreal. It’s one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.

His "physicality" is enhancing it. He's really "feeling it". His delivery is powerful. I'm happy to hear you speak to this. He's a genius.
