I think you did a fair analysis of Klipsch. I am a big horn speaker fan, but I have a real problem with Klipsch. When people who are not into horns talk about horn speakers they usually come up with Klipsch and then "judge" the sound of horn speakers in general by describing the typical Klipsch sound. On the one hand I can understand that because Klipsch is the most famous and best selling horn speaker but on the other hand people should be aware that Klipsch is using the worst and cheapest horn driver available on the planet. If you would give say Marten or Wilson a bunch of Monacor drivers and ask them to build a speaker with it, we could be sure that it would not sound like their famous products anymore. But when we talk about horns we tend to generalize based on the worst crap ever build.
Imagine if we would turn that around and say 98% of all speakers are horns and when people start talking about cone drivers everybody would only reference Bose speakers, that would be ridiculous, but that's the way people think about horns. Sad.

How do you compare Klipsch the better heritage like Forte ad Cornwall compared to AN-J or AN-E?
I also was wondering how the Cornwall or Forte would sound on a AN Oto amp, very interesting sound I guess. I might consider when my Oto arrives I take it to a store where they have some better Klipsch models just for fun :)

No disrespect here, just an observation, but I have heard and owned all three of the models types that you speak of here and you can’t say that they sound the same and compare a horn tweeters and horn midrange with over a 100db spl to a time aligned design with around 88db spl and a much smaller cabinet design.

Comparing a pair of Heresy and Cornwall to a pair of Quatros and Signature II or Signature III, not even close they are totally different for a totally different audience and I don’t have a problem with Klipsch, Vandersteen or JBL. I personally tend to try different things after 5-10 years. Klipsch speakers can sound great with any gear vintage, middle or expensive, the goal was to have a bold sound without requiring a lot of power, which some vintage and even modern tube amps have.

These speakers sound completely different. Klipsch and the larger JBL when placed right have a big bold sound and sound better with rock and metal than a Vandersteen. Vandersteen is better with classical and jazz recordings. Vandersteen is far more articulate with air and fine details. Now if you are saying Klipsch and JBL have a similar house sound, yes I agree and the design is similar. The Vandersteen is a way more articulate speaker that requires a lot more setup and they must be pushed further into the room.

This is like comparing Audio Research to McIntosh, both are good, but both have their own house sound and they aren’t comparable with Audio Research being far more articulate which some find as bright and the McIntosh sounds more lively, like at a concert, due to their rounded off treble. Most modern Klipsch designs at least at audio stores or shows are connected to modern McIntosh equipment and they sound fine. You are referring to vintage Klipsch, which I can agree with.

I think this is a very fair and honest review. There are some things that they do well and other things not so well. It is a certain type of sound and it is a fun experience. It seem most Klipsch owners go with an SVS subwoofer, per SVSs own words. Klipsch should put a little more time into their subwoofers in my opinion. Good review!

I think the Cornwall IV sucks and don’t get the hype. Lots of box noise and some odd coloration in the upper bass/low mids.
