I would like to make a couple points as an owner of the original RP600m’s as well as some more neutral sounding diy speakers and various amplifiers.
most people who shop for klipsch speakers never pay list price ( I paid $377 at Best Buy)as they frequently go on sale.
you never mentioned synergy between speaker amps and preamps. In listening to these did you swap out equipment (class a for ab for d)? Perhaps inserting and amp or preamp with a warmer sound would bring up the midrange and lessen your fatigue.
I don’t know but something about your review just came across like you enjoyed dishing out criticism of these a bit too much.

I absolutely love my 600m’s, keep the grills on and not toed in too much, give them a warm sounding amp, they are wonderful sounding, I don’t hear the u shape sound, the mids are very much presentable, I listen to them all Sunday afternoon and never are they ear fatiguing but thats me and I love them, I love hearing them at a low volume late at night, you hear details and clarity not many speakers can do at this price.

I have a pair of the 600 Ms and they sound good. I also have a pair of RF7’s. I’ve been listening to music all my life and it’s amazing to me how much everyone says they can hear. My equipment sounds best when my listening environment is quiet and the Corona is cold. If it sounds good to you that’s all that maters.

Haven't heard the new RP-600M 2, but never been a fan of RP series anyway (copper colored drivers). That being said, I find the whole "fatiguing" thing ridiculous. Live music, including acoustic, is very "fatiguing". I've heard a lot of soft, well mannered ELACs and they don't have any presence, no body, no "life" to them. So from now on, I'm only looking for "fatiguing" speakers.

If you're listening to any speaker at loud volumes you'll get fatigue. I listen to the 600M (series 1) all day in my home office. No fatigue at all.

So your saying for your taste, you don't like them? That is the beauty of this hobby. We get to choose what we like. Thanks!

This is the type of click-bait that only chronic audiophiles will even get, let alone click. I love it!

Thank you for pointing out what every true audiophile knows, what sounds good to someone may not sound good to another and it may be because of what an engineer would classify as a “defect” actually results in something that listeners may define as pleasing. I have been an audiophile since the early 70s and I learned early to rely on my ears and not my eyes when deciding on what audio gear to purchase for my own use and I always tell others to do the same. I have a pair of the original 600Ms and I am amazed at how well they sound with almost anything driving them.

What I did was get some 600M's, some Elac's reference's and some Sony SScs5's. I rotate them out. Believe it or not, the cheap Sony's are not bad for $79.00, I love all three of these speakers. I do use a sub woofer. It's fun to rotate the speakers out. I think you can get all three of these speakers for under $1200.00.

I don’t see a link to the comparison of the other two speakers you mentioned

I absolutely love these types of brutally honest reviews. I'm so tired of the praise these speakers garner, especially when I never understood all the love.
Hat tip to ya, Ron!

It just goes to show it's all in the ear of the beholder. I think a lot of these descriptions like thin mid range and texture less bass and even fatiguing highs is a bit over done. I have listened to ELAC's, Q Audio's, JBL's etc. and for me I totally prefer the Klipsch sound(although I hate the Heresy). I have the 600Mii's set up with a Cambridge Audio AXA35 amp and CXA35 cd player and I love the sound. I think the amp is a good balance with these speakers and don't find them fatiguing or sibilant at all. Also, I find the bass to be very textured. I listen to a lot of jazz and when I hear an upright double bass you can hear the players fingers against the strings.

Hi, I bought RP-600M about 5 years ago. Last week I was blasting some house music really loud through a cambridge audio streamer. My listening room is small square, as in 12ft x 12ft. I sit 7.5ft away from the speakers in a couch. The speakers are on a tv stand 2.5ft apart from eachother and 4.5" away from the wall.

The Left cabinet woofer is dead. Tweeter is working. I removed the woofer to see the cone is almost separated and when I push it in and out I hear grinding/scratchy sound. I also noted after taking off the grill, there are dimples on the gold coloured centre area of the woofer. I am very sad to see this happen and seek your advice.

My hifi setup is fairly a complex one. I have 3 dbx sound processors going into a Hitachi preamp which goes to a NAD 2200 Envelope Power Amp. With the help of a switch, I also can toggle between the NAD amp and a Marantz 250M power amp. What I think I've done is while engaging and disengaging different bass boost settings in the 3 dbx sound processors, I've put too much load onbthe speakers. I am not a techy guy, just assuming.

Would you recommend I buy RP-600M II and just be careful before boasting frequencies while volume is loud or search for a new replacement woofer.

Appreciate if you could kindly give me some direction. Loved watching your video. Thanks.

Thanks for the great review. Can you please review the RF7 III from Klipsch. Not too many reviews on that speaker even though it came a while ago.

You worked at Circuit City? I worked at Good Guys and we sold a ton of Klipsch. They were demo room champs especially when doing 20-second a/b comparisons. I think Klipsch understood this better than anyone, which has been a key to their success.

Such a refreshing review! I thought it was just me. After the original 600M's started getting stellar reviews, I tried a pair and was completely underwhelmed. I've come to believe that I am sensitive to too much treble energy, and it always causes me listening fatigue. I just recently got my first open baffle speaker and it is a revelation. It gives me no listening fatigue at all...I can listen all day. Besides sounding generally fantastic, these (single full range driver) open baffles are actually cheaper than the 600M's! They have limited bass, which is normal for full range driver open baffles, but I still find them a delight to listen to. I'll be ordering a sub soon.

Hi NRD, what is your opinion about Polk R100? Do you think it's better or it's bright too or would you recommend something else? I care a lot about the vocals.

The guitar licks on the outtro was dire straights, which song? Remind me! It’s driving me crazy!

Thanks for a straight shooter review. Nice one. Just watched your mofi record rant, you’re on fire bro! Love it. Keep it real.
