I'm Dr. Natali Edmonds, a board-certified geropsychologist specializing in older adults. One day, while hiking a trail, I came up with the idea for Careblazers and I decided to see if posting videos online could provide help to the many other Careblazers in the world who don’t get to have help come directly to them in their homes.
Our mission is to make dementia caregiving easier for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's, frontotemporal, Lewy body, vascular, or any other type of dementia. We believe that to create a more dementia-friendly world, we must first create a caregiver-friendly world. That's why we provide free educational videos like this one, so anyone with an internet connection can access dementia care information.

My mother died last week, she was 86 years old suffering from dementia for the last 5-6 years. I was her primary, and for the most part the only caregiver. I just wanted to thank you for all your work here, it helped me a lot during all the struggles of caretaking. But also thanks to all people who leave their comments, I was able to learn so very much from them as well!
Taking care of my mother was the hardiest, but at the same time the most rewording thing I've ever done. It fundamentally changed me for the better and made me stronger and overall better person then before, at least that is how I feel and see myself now.
English isn't my first language, I'd wish I was able to explain myself better, but hopefully the point will be recognized.
I wish all the best to everyone here and all of yours loved ones, stay strong and good luck with all of yours struggles! ❤

My wife suffers from dementia and she goes to a social and wellness group once a week. One day she told me they had a group of toddlers come to the centre and my wife and the rest of the group interacted with the children, just passing a ball. It really had a great effect. Knowing how she just loves children I wasn’t at all surprised. ❤

My husband with dementia finds great joy in watching the same episodes of a program that he likes over and over again

Yes, my brother would believe that the movie/show was a real thing happening outside and was true, or the newspaper items (war items etc) were happening outside . He would be so agitated and confused . We got him magazines that were of interest .. fishing, music, gardens. The pictures he enjoyed and the short informative articles were great. He loved the outdoors, so his tv had movies avail for forest walks, shoreline walks etc with natural sounds. We even brought him in a pail of snow so he could feel it. He laughed at this as he was watching a snowman being built by his great grand kids. Anything to enhance his life. ❤

My sister loves children, her face lights up when a babies face appears on ads on tv. I have discovered the program "big little shots" on YouTube.... Its the only program she becomes fully engaged with, her whole demeanor changes, smiling, laughing and applauds the kids...we watch these series frequently!

My wife loves those Hallmark movies. They are feel good movies and occasionally I’ll watch one with her. She’s always enjoyed watching them.

Thank you so much. I've been looking for an alternative to cable tv. My mom only watches three channels, has difficulty using the remote control and is paying $127 a month for cable. This seems to be much easier to use and better content.

Wish I’d had something like this for my mother. She wanted to watch tv, but could not follow the storylines. This would have helped. Hope if this disease happens to me, I hope my family knows about this program. Thx
