I purchased the double barrel and the maker was INCREDIBLE! He worked with me on custom color, he was super responsive and amazing to work with.

I own the double barrel. I really enjoy the easy of use. The laser smoke extraction is a big plus too. Plus, watching the dust go through the clear tubes is definitely satisfying!

I to have been trying different dust boots. I had issues with the leg at home getting in the way. I really like the swinger as well. I did modify it by adding a clear pipe to it with a quick connector and a clamp to hold the pipe at the top of the spindle.
Great job on the video.

I'm so excited for this video..thanks HD! I have a the double barrel unit with my Dust Gorilla Pro 5hp and I ran into the same issues you mentioned. I talked to the maker and give him the same feedback you mentioned. He is going to send me out a new version to test for him, but short term I did the same as use...just use the shortest brush and it works great! One other thing I like the double barrel is that the dust boot hose attachment is on the top of the unit as I use a 4" hose...it keeps the hose out of the way which I love. Your review is 100% right on with that unit! The fit and finish is amazing. The only reason I wouldn't buy it again would be to just try out one of the other two you were showing off.

Great Video Hamilton. A right swing swinger is coming this week!!!

FYI, you can use the masso controlled vac ports on the power box to control your 220v dust collector. You just have to manually wire in some plug ends that take advantage of the relay switched hot side for one leg of your 220v circuit, ignoring the common (neutral) and have the other leg of the 220v circuit always hot. Works great, and only costs a few dollars in parts, but you need to know a bit of basic wiring, and there’s a good chance this setup won’t be “to code” in your region.

Awesome informative video thanks for doing the video Hamilton.

The swingers hinge pin is designed to be easily pulled out and the entire front section can be removed. That solved the issue for me with zero axis on bottom left and changing bits. Although changing bits with spanners can still be a bit challenging compared to static z height boots.
I use the longer bristles on mine think 3” or maybe 3.5” with a cheapo harbor freight dust collector and I have better results than you did in video. I have mine setup that 4” hose goes directly on the boot.

Funny story about crud collection. Last year I picked up a few pallets of scrap material from a local aerospace company. No idea what some of them were at the time, other than ducting length and some parts that looked like ball-mounted bendy arms. I was more interested in the ducting for runners to be heat-treating furnace and forgot about the other stuff.
Come to find out, two pallets were 4" metal ducting runners, clamps, and all sizes of Loc-Line hoses with attachments. Score!! Getting it routed for the new CNC adoption. 😁

I have pwncnc z independent v9 and it’s excellent for a z independent. The double barrel is my go to. I have had it for over a year and have absolutely no need to change. I also just got the Jtech 24 watt laser and this double barrel is flawless for fumes extraction

Loved this video... We have put a lot of hard hours into The Swinger and was hoping you were going to mention the opening direction. That has been our only issue. It is a workhorse.

Great video. Thanks. I use a Pwncnc v10 4”. It works great but is limited in how far up the spindle it can be set. I will be removing the nubs that limit that travel. IMO, including the brush position adjustment would be useful information.

Thanks for this thorough review! I have to disagree with the statement about how the Z-independent is for "beginners." I just can't see any correlation with, or what you mean by, that statement? People have to get over the fact that not all woodworking projects only use 3/4" thick material with shallow, 2 dimensional, carvings. I regularly design projects that are 3D carvings that purposely get into 2-3 inches tall. The 1F Z-independent dust boot bracket is an absolutely brilliant idea, and was one of the selling points for me when purchasing the machine. I was so frustrated with the brush strips getting destroyed by my bits as the Z-axis moves along with the boot. The only thing I am now frustrated with is 1F refusal to fix the clearance issue with their Z slider when using a spindle and the design of their stock boot itself severely restricting air flow as it makes a sharp angle where the hose connects, thus causing a massive drop in volumetric area. And, then there's my overall dream for some day having a Z-independent boot that allows a 4-inch hose.

I use the Sweepy from Carbide 3D on my Shapeoko. I think it would work on any machine though. I have the regular and the deep sweep attachments and prefer the deep one as the air path is smoother and therefore quieter.

Popping the attachment off to do bit changes is easy and the whole thing is clear. It does hang off the front, I like the design of the double barrel and may consider that one.

I find my toughest time with dust collection is when profiling along the edge of a piece of stock. Chips just tend to fly out the side since they’re not contained in a pocket or cavity from the cut.

I have had a few ideas similar to what you are suggesting as well as couple other upgrades but I need to get myself a spindle first I think.

Thank you for your crazy awesome investment into the community. When I use the double barrel it hits the inward facing screws on the big black y-axis mounts when I come all the way forward and left or right. Can those screws be removed? Or is there another fix for that?

Using a 120V remote system with a 220V isn't difficult. Get a plastic electrical enclosure and use a "contactor" made for 220V. It will use a 120V input like a switch or relay output from the cnc, or a remote system to activate the contactor. The contactor connects the wires for the 220V circuit and turns on the dust collection. I use one that way for my Long Ranger remote system. I used to use it to switch back and forth between two different table saws that shared one power cord.
