Protection from harmful cosmic radiation is needed:

a. More dense space age type materials: Then have to worry about cascading cosmic showers inside of the space ship.

b. Multi-layered hull of a space ship: The heating and cooling differences with materials that have different expansion and contraction rates would eventually weaken the hull.

c. An inter-dimensional space ship: (yes, I looked into that too): Spacetime can interact with spacetime and energy can interact with energy. Even with an inter-dimensional space ship, it might be literally impossible to protect 'life' from all harmful cosmic radiation in outer space.

d. Still working on this issue though while I am still here, but it is not looking good for the survival of any species on and from this Earth.
