My favorite feature of Windows update lately has been how it sets entire sections of your disk to READ ONLY and programs will start giving all sorts of errors that can be really hard to track down.

It's happened a couple different occasions now, on different systems.

However you'd be amazed at how often systems presume you have a mobile phone and there are no methods to make the system work without one.

I've written one of those temporary password generators, and sometimes it's possible to find patterns where none exist... Those formulas usually use some kind of CSPRNG. She just happened to roll the winning lottery numbers of combinations for this to occur... And if you think that "well it shouldn't have generated two gs consecutively, clearly there was some Trump voter behind it", having a non-repeat schedule, or banned phrase wording list is how Bletchley Park cracked the Enigma machine. Knowing that the Enigma Machine cipher result couldn't be a duplicate of itself, meaning that E couldn't mean E on the codec made it easier for them to break it. Don't compromise security for feelings!

That password story got me laughing. I actually had to implement a blacklist password solution for the same reason. We had special characters and numbers as well (and 16 characters), but we still got bit on a password reset. This was back in 2001.

The answer to what is the chance of that password. To get that exact one with 52 possible thing per character (upper and lower) in those 8 exact places. The answer is 1 out of 53, 459, 728, 531, 456. For the N word (5 letter word) 1 out of 11, 881, 376 giving upper and lower didn't matter. If it does matter then it's 1 out of 380, 204, 032.
The lottery is 1 in 175, 223, 510. So she has more of a chance to win the lottery

I used a tool to figure out the max attempts someone has to do to brute force it. (8 characters with a pool size of 52)

Oh and note the odds could be more or less. I'm just assuming there is upper and lower case with nothing else in the pool. And there is no exact on how many upper/lower or where. The numbers I gave was as if it's 100% random.

Still, it's kinda funny if you think of it like the universe is screwing with her. Like what other way is there to ultimately troll someone?

Truck drivers split lanes so that they may make a turn that could otherwise be impossible for them to make legally. It is also perfectly legal for them to even split the right turn lane and a travel lane to make a right turn. If our trailer tires leave the road we can get into trouble, and more so if our tires ger up onto a sidewalk. We could be liable for pre-existing damages to the sidewalk at that point.

Try doing some research before calling just about every truck driver in the country an asshole.
