As someone from Southern Ohio Ski flows through these veins.

Ski does have a very different flavor profile depending on how it is delivered. Ski in a glass bottle tastes way different that ski from a can.

Also Kroger around us has stopped carrying Ski so that may be why you are not able to find it there now.

Hey Wendell have you tried Kola Champagne? It's an orange colored soda (not actually an alcoholic or orange flavored beverage) from the Caribbean. It's quite good made by various companies in South America.
