How to Repair - Fix a Damaged Ethernet Port

Learn how to fix a damaged Ethernet port (also applies to RJ-45 / Ethernet keystones) in this short video! We received a computer that kept dropping it's link to the network. By the time it reached the shop it wouldn't connect at all which is when we diagnosed the port as the issue.

I had the same issue with the ethernet cable where I had to press it for it to work, much worse than shown in the video. But your solution worked. Thank you. Keep doing what you do!!

Hi there i want to thank you for this video. mine hasn't been working for sometime, i just looked in the hole as per your video, pins 1 and 8 were bent right up, i managed with a pin to get them back down, and it now works, ., , incredible, after spending hours installing drivers ad troubleshooting. Thank you so much. My problem turned out to be a crappy ethernet cable that worked with my other devices and why I did not diagnose sooner. After watching your video I replaced the ethernet cable with a much better quality one (you can really see the difference) and everything is now working perfectly. Your video was helpful and saved me much time and money. Thanks.

You're a saviour man, watched many videos only to find none of them worked. For those who dont have tweezers, I used A pair of small safety pins to lift up the damaged connector pins of the port without affecting the other normal pins and it worked like charm.

Also saved me! Thanks so much. Super easy, I tried tweezers first but couldn't get a hold of the pins. In the end, just the end of a safety pin worked for me.

this morning I woke up and my ethernet cord was nor registering as plugged in suddenly. I noticed cat bites on the cord by the computer port, so I replaced the cord but it's still saying there isn't a cord plugged in. I'm wondering if the cat could have pulled the cord and damaged the port, but when I look in it I can't tell if it's broken. Is there a quick fix? Should I just buy a ethernet usb adapter for the time being?

hey, I have a problem with my ethernet port as well. So i don't have disconnects or anything but my speed is way slower than it should be (15mbps instead of 1gbps). the online speedtest says everything is fine and wireless connection works flawless too. do you have any idea what this could be?
