As we get older we develop into that cartoon character with many similar clothes for each day

I can confirm this issue--I refuse to call it a problem--of buying multiple pens and ink holds true for a writer, too.

Many times, I've looked at my collection, and thought I have more than enough. And yet, I still want one of these. I tell myself it'll help me get into even more inks and paper.

I appreciate the testing of different inks. That will be most helpful.

NO you are NOT the on, y one - I’m addicted to art supplies and have this drive to keep searching for and trying new things - fountain pens for drawing, watercolor brushes, travel palettes, ink, sketchbooks - I’m hopeless 🥴

You can't believe how fast I clicked on this video.

I loved the inconclusive and honest ending. I’ve been there plenty of time buying a new pencil or pen or brush pack thinking it was going to be my end all but that’s never been the case. It’s nice to see it from other perspectives and for other reasons. Great work as always

Thank you for introducing me to this dip pen, I have been looking for one to like for a while now and this seems right up my alley.

These types of reviews are amazing and what I want so bad. Especially when some people have just turned into unboxing channels that don't give actual opinions or critique in their "reviews". Yours on the other hand went in depth and tried out so many options. Such a good job. Also great mech drawings throughout.

Ah, another person of culture (Fan of the Pilot Hi-Tec C!), I see! I appreciate your honesty about your drawing supplies. Honestly, I think there's a culture on Youtube where reviews are meant to show enthusiasm, hype, an emphasis on hauls!! And it just encourages that constant temptation, to think some new product or supply is going to be IT, feel incredible, and make our art suddenly better. New things that fit your area of interest are alluring enough as it is, it's nice to have a reminder that pens and pencils will always just end up being... pens and pencils, at the end of the day.

I totally get having “a go to tool for the work you’re doing” and finding something that just clicks with what you’re trying to do and opens new things up is a great feeling. Much love.

I feel this so hard. I always get new random ass pens and pencils but at the end of the day my favorite drawing tool is a 0.5 HB mechanical pencil. And it kinda bums me out because i long for the richness of inks and also like sketching in ink, but it always ends up looking so attrocious i revert to the graphite

edit: I have been doing an entire sketchbook in ballpoint pens now and im not going back 💪

I got one of these a few months ago and I love it. It totally changes how I draw, in a looser and fun way. And I like that you covered different inks -- paper can also affect how inks draw

10 seconds in and I already agree with everything you're saying, I've gotta have a favorite thing of everything.

I love your supply videos, I feel like you always bring a unique perspective and try out such interesting supplies. I’m a watercolour painter and I don’t do a lot of line work so it’s so cool to see you trying out stuff I would never have reason to try myself!!

I have been buying pens like crazy and my conclusion is that pens are just pens and none of them are going to give this illumination moment. I think that capitalism taught us that buying is a kind of hope, so we buy and buy hoping something amazing is going to happen. But after a collection of varied pens (dip, fountain, felt tip, etc etc), is nice to realize that everything is already ok and nothing is actually lacking.

I've been at this struggle for what feels like my entire life. I have my go-to pens and markers but am always on the lookout for the 'Holy Grail' of drawing utensils, ultimately, I believe it comes down to hours spent with what you find comfortable. I love this video, the experimentation, and the commitment to understanding what it is that you're looking for. Overall, it's about the love of drawing and creating imaginative worlds, and it's a pleasure to follow along as to share yours. Well done, and thank you for sharing.

I think it has come to the point where drawing on paper has become as much about the tactile, sensory experience as anything. Really, digital is pretty much the most versatile and probably best media in most ways, but still many of us continue to draw with pens and pencils on paper, and I believe we have started to recognize the other values of analogue creativity. So really, this makes perfect sense. We'll always be questing for the best experience, and likely enjoying a number of different experiences while never quite being fully satisfied.
