Just to explain, the reason why you shouldn't drop the pen on the nib is because the casing that surrounds the ball can become tight around the ball, hence the scratching/ scraping noise, this stops the flow of ink around the ball, because of surface tension and the pen effectively dries up!

So, here's what happened for those who don't get it:
A ballpoint pen works by having a ball in a pen that rolls as you glide the pen across a writing surface. The ink drops onto the ball as it rolls and deposits it onto said writing surface. If you drop a pen on its tip, the ball can become jammed and not roll as well as before, causing the ink to scrape off the ball as seen in the short. This means it will not write as well as it did before.

Just to be clear: this a basic explanation utilizing my rudimentary knowledge of how the basic ballpoint pen mechanism works. I'm in no way a pen expert.

If I am not wrong, the ball is made of tungsten, and the tip is steel which is softer than tungsten. That’s why we saw the shavings as the ball rolls and the ink cannot flow because the gap also changed between the tip and the ball.

For the people who want to know, this is because if you drop it the ball gets pushed back into the casing making it hard for ink to come through resulting in a 1/4 working pen.
