I had Dr. Nordvig as a professor for 2 semesters during the 2019-20 school year at CU! Also had Jackson Crawford as a professor a couple times too, so happy to see them on prolific YouTube channels talking about Norse myth!

The fact that someone can do all the research and deliver it to us so quickly and easily makes the acquisition of knowledge so underrated. This guy is too legit, Norse mythology seems to be such an ambiguous topic

He’s absolutely amazing. This video should’ve been longer and more detailed I’d love to learn more!

I would really love to see him breakdown god of war's take on the Norse mythology, I think it's really interesting personally.

I was hoping he would mention the fact that MCU Sif has black hair, since she notoriously has beautiful golden hair in the myths. Idk why they changed that since it's one of the few well-noted details about Sif & would've been an easy fix to dye the actress' hair or something like that

I remember reading that the hammer was just so freaking heavy no one else could lift it. If I recall four frost giants (dressed as women) tried and failed. So Thor “tossed “ it to their king, killing him instantly.

As a Norse mythology nerd- I am so happy someone finally pointed out that most of the Asgardians in the movies should have red hair!!

Hel was Loki's daughter, that should be mentioned. I'm not sure if Loke was Hel's mother or father, as Loki could change into many things. He is the mother of Sleipnir, Odin's 8 legged horse, and the Fenris wolf, I think. Excellent video. Also, I think Friday is named after Frigg, which is cool.

About the thing he says about Thor "tricking" fate, the MCU makes it very clear that Ragnarok will happen, and Thor only slightly delayed it by stealing the crown

Marvel Thor didn't stop ragnarok, he only hope to. In the end his actions helped bring ragnarok about since Surtur's crown could so easily be placed in the eternal fire, having been brought to Asgard. And Surtur says in the opening, "you cannot stop ragnarok".

I'm curious how he didn't point out more details about Sif, such as being a sister to Heimdall, or how Loki shaved her golden hair (which symbolized fertility of the land) in her sleep and replaced it with a magical headpiece made by Eitri and Brokk.
This event alone led to the creation of Mjölnir and Gungnir, among others.
SPOILER ALERT, this was referenced in the Disney+ Loki show.

Or perhaps WIRED cut out this part for time?

You should have this guy do a reaction to God of war 4, or a Greek mythology specialist react to God of war

The best norse mythology version of Thor is on the Netflix Tv Series called Ragnarok with david stakton and so many norse mythology elements are in it like you see the axes, the mead, the lighting and thunder along with the Jotuns family which are giants posing as humans for thousands of years

Mjolnir had a short shaft due to Loki interfering with either Brock or eitri, two dwarves, by biting one of them in the eyelid, so they would lose in the competition of making the best treasures for the gods, which he failed at sabotaging anyway, because mjolnir turned out to be the greatest gift to the gods. The hammer was also very indestructible. Since the two brothers won, Loki would have to give up his own head had he not one trick up his sleeve: they can cut off his head, but not his neck. In response to the ruse, one of the dwarves sewn his mouth shut so they will not be deceived by his words again
