Lol at all the people who think that he's saying that there was a case for THE U.S. to nuke Poland, etc. He was answering the question of if PUTIN was going to use nukes. His answer is that there's no real reason for Putin to do that now, but last year it would have benefited Russia.

The correct analysis is that Moscow cannot use nuclear weapons against a NATO member without starting a war which ends in the destruction of the Russian Federation and the killing of it's leadership. All other considerations are moot.
