I think what they’ve done to this country is unforgivable.

The fact that the Tory party is even entertaining that train of thought is a damning indictment.
They are a disgrace

How can we continue with elected representatives full of self-seeking behaviour? There is no integrity, no honesty, no decency. How can we instill these qualities into our children if they are not deemed important ? Does anyone think they are important any longer? Revolting behaviour, just despicable. 🤮🇬🇧

The comment about Boris Johnson having no place in public office is so important.

When Max Hastings comes over as a centrist then you know we're in trouble.

Sunak sat beside Johnson! Said nothing throughout Johnson's tenure. The guy promised professionalism integrity and accountability then appointed Braverman, Rabb Coffey and many others.

Lying in public office should be a criminal offence punishable by imprisonment.

"Jacob Rees-Mog belonged in a museum, not a cabinet" is absolutely gold.

I am of a similar age to Johnson (56) and my parents bought me up to know lying is just not right, simple as that. Yet here we are with these almost compulsive liars in government, it’s disgusting and disturbing that people think this is ok. Well it isn’t.

Sunak "wants to do the right thing by Britain" - by passing laws which save him £300, 000 a year in tax, refuses £20 a week to the most vulnerable, and is Prime Minister of a country where 4, 000, 000 children live in poverty. That's not "the sort of Britain" *I* want to live in, Max.

At last, Finally, a Tory telling it as it is. I never thought I would see the day.

I'm quite shocked at what sir Max is saying. Conservative voters need to listen .

I'm sorry, for anyone to say that Sunak is not a liar, remember this...Weds 22/03/23 he stood in Parliament and said that inflation was declining, when on the same day it was announced that inflation had actually increased. How is that not a lie?

I thought he made sense up until he started talking about Sunak

I don't agree with Max Hastings' politics but I do agree that we need to have honesty at the heart of our government

Max Hastings! Thank you for this interview. Even if I don’t share all the same views I am very glad to have this opportunity.

The problem with being asked to accept a 'post truth era' is that it makes it pointless for us all to drag ourselves up to the polling station. If we are being asked to abandon the pretence that politicians mean what they say and instead vote for guaranteed liars and their lies we might as well stay at home.
