I mean. If you're skiing back country. You probably have most of the kit already. If it's your first time you'll probably invest in some new layers. Definitely be investing in the new safety equipment and the skins. So that should bring down the cost.

This is one of the best advertisements to combat the explosion of people into the backcountry in the last few years 😂 please keep it up!

The difference between resort and back courty prices are really just either, have good gear and spend no money on lift passes going when ever you want or spend money on a pass or season pass without a backpack, probe, shovel, skins, or a transceiver.

(+skis are just to fucking expensive, switch to snowboarding)

i see it like this: if you go backcountry skiing 10 days a winter then that about 300 dollars a day. do that for 10 years its only 30 dollars a day. still alot!

Tip for making it cheaper: compare it to downhill mountain biking!

Buy used gear! And if you’re fortunate enough to have an excess of gear, donate or sell it!

Spread the love of winter sports❤️

Tired of people that want life saving and well engineered for bottom dollar prices.

But half of that gear you need for resort skiing as well ... also if you take into account season pass prices vs backcountry specific gear it actually comes out around the same 🤷‍♂️ but the back country gear can be for multi season so in that respect it's actually cheaper

Buy used, buy older, borrow or rent gear, spend more on critical safety pieces

And you did not include the 1000$ avalanche backpack 🙈.
I would suggest working your way up. Start with the clothing (which you can also use for other winter stuff) rent ski and boots. Find people how really enjoy track skiing already. I would definitely lend a tracking device if someone would ask. And then slowly add stuff over the years.

You can eliminate that whole ski setup with the daymaker ski touring adapters

Have you seen the amount of money SKI racers spend? This is NOTHING compared to that…

Dude most of that gear is for downhill. This is bs. Total bs

That’s as much as I spent on my mountain bike

Low-key I don’t want to make backcountry skiing more accessible, or skiing in general keep the prices high and keep the degenerates out(not poor people “ degenerates”). If we make the price too low, we’re not gonna be able to just set our boards around where the fuck we want at the resort

For starters you don’t need half of the stuff you just mentioned.
I have skis, boots, poles, jacket, bottoms, gloves and warm socks. Total around $600. If you want to buy all the unnecessary shit knock yourself out but if you’re starting out you don’t need to invest in an airbag backpack that is used for off piste extreme avalanche skiing.
