Why do people use his burst before his skill when the whole point of his burst is to extend the skill durstion and that only happens if you use the burst during the skill

Since the creator has already deleted my comment I'll leave a "shorter" (shorter than before) thing of how to actually build teams for Kinich and what to use with the comments I see

1. What about 4pc Obsidian
It's his best set, you can use it for free crit rate and you can sacrifice a lot of crit rate stats on artifacts for crit damage instead, it makes him easier and far more forgiving to build, this is almost always going to be a domain that you want to farm anyways cause it'll be (for now) the strongest domain for future Natlan DPS and supports.
Alternative sets that work are (best to worst imo):
4pc Unfinished Reverie, 2pc Deepwood 2pc Golden Troupe, 2pc Deepwood 2pc ATK%, 2pc Golden Troupe 2pc ATK%


2. Don't have/want Emelie and or Dheya
Grab a second dendro applicator (anyone that isn't dendro traveler (DMC), Tighnari, Alhaitham, or Kaveh) and plop 4pc Deepwood on them, they use the stats from it well and most have the off-field application to keep proccing burn and giving that dendro res shred from either their skill or burst (skill from Yaoyao and Nahida, burst from Baizhu and Collei (Collei is a last resort if you have absolutely no one else)). They also provide extra energy particles for Kinich (while not necessary, is always super nice to have).
DMC doesn't work because their burst will blow up when interacting with pyro.

For pyro, grab an off-field pyro applicator (Thoma or Xiangling, you need consistent pyro application), and toss 4pc Cinder City on them, if you don't have the set (the stats for the set literally don't matter, they just need to proc the 4pc effect for the 12% elm dmg buff (only 12% cause there's no Natlan characters for this FOR NOW)) and you're set, get them ER if you can and some crit rate for fav lance if you're using it on them (both characters NEED energy for rotations, so if you don't have enough ER for them it takes priority over getting 4pc Cinder City, give them a 2/4pc Emblem or 2pc Emblem 2pc Cinder City).

If you don't want to use your Xiangling or Thoma, you can use Lynette instead! Give her the same sets I've mentioned previously for the pyro applicator, and she seems random, but a lot of people have recognized her capabilities in Kinich teams recently! She can deal a pretty decent amount of damage on her own, but where she shines is her AoE pyro application (which is still extremely good even for solo application!), her burst draws enemies to her Bogglecat Box (Via Taunt) which keeps enemies grouped up and easier to manage, if you have constellations on her she's even less energy intensive and more flexible than Xiangling or Thoma (since you get 2 charges of her ES), her A1 passive also provides a very nice ATK buff that gives just slightly more (by 1%) than pyro resonance (it's not a huge difference, but it makes up for some extra damage you may be missing out on)


3. What about burgeon teams?
I think burgeon has the most overall damage when taking into consideration the damage of the whole team, not just Kinich. Burgeon is generally almost always going to be good since there's an excess of hydro applicators/buffers with the existence of Xingqiu, Yelan, and Furina. Furina is obviously the best, when is she not, but Xingqiu provides a little extra tankiness and his burst is super easy to recharge (especially with sac sword, if you're not using it on him that's actually insane but to each their own), and Yelan's A4 talent provides a nice DMG buff to your entire team over time just for using her burst, but if you've managed to never get any of these 3 beasts, Mona works well too!

She doesn't have a lot of off-field hydro application, but she's able to taunt enemies with her skill and her burst provides a massive DMG buff to your team by making the enemies take more damage with her omen, though she's definitely not as reliable as the other three, the immediate burst damage she provides to the team is super nice to have.
Edit to burgeon section:
I’m surprised I forgot to mention this but burn is infinitely more comfortable and consistent to play than burgeon for Kinich
As some have mentioned Kinich still does the majority of damage in these teams, I’m aware of that and I acknowledge that, but burgeon as a reaction itself deals a decent amount of damage that boosts your teams overall dps, I’m not sure if it technically does more damage than burn (I don’t run numbers, I just test the thing and if it works it works, if anyone does the number calcs do fill me in).
It doesn’t outshine Kinich, but it doesn’t hurt to have if you’d prefer to play it with characters you probably already have built, just keep in mind that you still need a 4pc deepwood user on the team (burgeon’s damage will also benefit from the dendro res shred).


4. Why use Kinich burst in the middle of his ES
It's purely for convenience, if you really want to sweat on him, this is how you get that extra 5th shot off (it only works in burn teams though) because while your ES duration is only extended to refund the time you spent in the burst animation, you continue to collect more nightsoul stacks from Kinich's A1 passive and the burn effect still going off during the animations, so you're able to get an ES off immediately after using his burst. It isn't required, but this in combination with some specific inputs using his ES gives you that extra 5th shot that a bunch of people are raving over right now. It's nice extra damage, but if you're casual, don't even bother with doing this, just pop your burst whenever and get your 4 shots, most things die with the first or second rotation like that anyways.

Woops this was supposed to be short but it ended up way longer than expected, anyways, lmk if I missed some stuff cause I was trying to be pretty general about everything (I personally dabble a bit into theory crafting but I almost never go deep into the specific numbers and calculations, Kinich is just one of those characters that I really love and invested a lot of time into studying, still without specific numbers cause that's honestly more work than I want to go through), if you have more questions lmk I'll try to reply to them if I see them and have a nice day :]


Here's the playlist of comps I've recorded, I'll add more if I feel like I should, but I've ranked them from most comfortable and strong to play to least (imo). (No foods or potions were used in any of the recordings)
All burn comps ranked higher than burgeon, burgeon can work, it's just extremely uncomfortable and it's probably honestly just a skill issue on my part that it doesn't work as well in the videos shown, I think Dheya would probably work better in the burgeon comps than Thoma but atm I'm tired and don't want to record any more rn so I'll test it out later maybe.

Adding emilie isnt necessary. She does not boost dmg( unless u build her with deepwood). Its a dps loss without her but she isnt needed. Also, kinich doesnt need burning to boost his dmg, it just makes his skillshot interval shorter, meaning having to dish out 3-4 shots, with 5 at max.

My kinich c1 uses verdict and is at 90% crit rate after 4 piece nightsoul passive triggers and he has 190% crit dmg. My skill level is 9 and im using a burning team, bennett nobilesse and xiangling and emilie. Yet i only do 80-90k per skill, i see other people do at least 100k dmg

ngl I feel like kirara is better at this situation, using sacrificial sword and 4pc tenacity (for shield and dendro application before kinich enters the field) giving up a good 30% atk buff instead of the 24% dendro damage buff that Deyha uses, also a great alternative for those who have kirara built but not deyha (or not even have her)

I actually hit 95k with 2pc golden troupe 2pc obsidian
And 200k with 4pc golden troupe
It's a bit too unbelievable when you're on 55% crit rate and 199% crit damage
