You guys are so good at checking and verifying sources. I wish the big name "official" gaming news people could be trusted to do that. Hell, I wish _all_ news people could be trusted to do that.

God I remember the Valley of the Flood rumours. I think "wanted to believe" is a good way to put it, because it just sounded so cool. And it's so rare that Nintendo fills gaps in the Zelda timeline like that, so a lot of us were just really hoping that it would break the trend

Honestly, just describing an ongoing struggle in creative differences between Aunoma and Miyamoto was evidence enough. Nintendo would not let them air out any internal disputes in a public setting like that.

Hold up, that’s *actually* 15 year old Brian Stelter? He based it just on his French friend, and that guy was confused by something he saw from the infamous Titus of Superman 64 fame? 😂

I love everything about this.

I remember when that rumor of Zelda 3 for the NES came along and the guy who had the prototype showed an odd photo but won't upload it to the internet or show more of it because he *was a very busy guy*. Yes, it was obviously a hoax.

"Miyamoto was thrilled with the idea…" That's where you know it's a fake.

Valley of the Deluge is still probably my favorite fake gaming leak from back in the day, rivalling even Nintendo On. I remember knowing it was fake even before reading that fake interview, but I always loved the idea of someone straightup lying to themselves saying they're the Hero of Time and ultimately failing as the overworld dynamically gets flooded over the course of the game.

18:52 To be fair:
As insane as the supposed Project Deluge was.
They at least got the Orchestrated Soundtrack the next Zelda would've right.

I would have absolutely loved a third Oracle game, Seasons and Ages were great

The Zelda games made by Capcom are among my favorites in the series. I wish Nintendo would let them develop another game

Came for the Zelda, was pleasantly surprised to find some jabs at Brian Stelter. Lol

But seriously, the research you guys do is always impressive!

I remember hearing about Valley of the Deluge years ago. The rumor I saw speculated it to be not just a Wind Waker prequel, but also a Twilight Princess sequel. In retrospect that'd be impossible, but as someone who holds the opinion the Zelda timeline was mostly made up long after all the pre-Skyward Sword games were made it wasn't completely out there for the time. That said, even with my opinion on the timeline, I think the split does the best job of explaining why Hyrule was flooded: the Hero ceased to exist in that timeline. Not simply dead, he left the timeline all together so he couldn't reincarnate

Good to know Brian has never been a reliable source. 😂

When he described project Deluge my only thought was that the main character was Tingle 😂😂

I still really think that an HD 2D remake of Zelda 2 Link's adventure would be pretty amazing

I remember reading about Valley of the Flood as a kid. I still think it could be a cool concept

In regards to the Zelda Mobile game, I can almost certainly say that a "Pokemon GO-styled Shrine Hunting Game" is NOT what would have been made. My reason? The company behind it.

Nintendo were working with DeNA, NOT Niantic. Pokemon GO and the often forgotten Pikmin Bloom were done by Niantic, so Nintendo wouldn't just throw all of that data away. Considering MKT, FEH, and ACPC were done under the DeNA partnership, the Zelda Mobile Game more than likely would have followed a similar structure. As for the gameplay, who knows, but gacha like FEH or PMEX doesn't sound like the way they'd go.
