I really wish my mom would have had me tested. I really do think I’m on the spectrum.

I feel it should be mentioned that most of these symptoms overlap with ADHD! We both have problems with processing and executive functioning, stimming, social skills etc, so misdiagnosis of one or the other is pretty common.

OH MY GOSH THANK IVE NEEDED THIS! I’m 12 and a girl, it’s harder to identify girls with autism. Usually they get diagnosed near teenage years. I relate to this Much. THANK YOU! Edit - I did not know that sleep problems were a symptom of ASD. I’m so active at night, and I don’t really need sleep.

I had/have nearly every single one of these signs as well as a long speech delay (didn’t start talking til age 5). No idea how everyone missed it, I’d been in services since I was 3. I finally got diagnosed at 21 after I pushed for an evaluation. It is definitely worth seeking an evaluation as a teen/adult. Having a diagnosis made everything click into place and I felt so much better with knowing there was a reason for how I am.

My daughter is 15 and just was diagnosed with an intellectual disability and autism December 2021, I worked so hard with a lot of doors closing in my face before I finally got her diagnosed . I fought so hard. It wasn’t easy, a lot of crying moments, but finally victory. People fight for your kids esp the girls when it comes to this diagnosis. Schools will try to dismiss your child. God bless

I was diagnosed when I was 15 and it was such a relief. The symptoms mentioned I can really relate to and the importance of the eating disorder and mental health impacts from not being diagnosed is a great thing to mention which is often forgotten 👍🏻

My aspie brother does some things still today that are a sign. If he is uncomfortable with a question or topic he will completely change the subject. He also laughs at inappropriate times of something makes him feel awkward.

Just hearing the examples in the first minutes rung with me. The specific example of the multi-step tasks actually gave me a little anxiety cause of how often I hear it and how much it overwhelms me to perform complex tasks.

Might be a random odd thought but what's your view on talking to them about the sexual needs/"urges" during puberty and beyond, nobody really addresses this type of thing for autistic/special needs teenagers !

I think I'm on the spectrum but I don't know how to talk to my mother about it, I'm scared that she might say I'm trying to fake a disability, just like she did when I told her I didn't know how to hug people

My new doctor thinks I was misdiagnosed with OCD and ADHD and believes I have high functioning autism. So now we're going to autism centers. I'm 18/: really wish it was caught sooner.

Thank you for this, you’ve literally just described me! I don’t really understand jokes, I have so much anxiety and I hate getting messy. I can’t eat certain textures of food because I’ll gag and I have a lot of compulsive behaviour. Getting tested soon since I’ve just turned 19. Plus your family is wonderful - thank you for all your videos!

My son is 13 and recently diagnosed with mild Autism ( Aspergers). He didn't have any of the stereotypical features of autism. Recently we moved and alot of things happened including the lockdown and all the symptoms came out like an avalanche. It seems he regressed and has had a burnout. I feel shocked and overwhelmed myself and still cannot grasp what happened. Thank you for the video

You know, I only subscribed to you because I love your videos, not because of how many views you get on your videos or how many subscribers you have! I love how down-to-earth you are as a YouTuber. I feel like you're the kind of YouTuber that average people can actually relate to. I also love how you never do clickbait like most YouTubers! :)

My mom got me tested for autism 2months ago after watching this video which was when I was 16 and found out I do have autism. I don't make friends and I have only 1 friend who I hang out with and she has autism. I started to deal with depression, anxiety and other psychiatric problems. I had to get admitted to psychiatric hospital 3 times in like 4months. When my mom said that I was doing psychiatric testing, I thought it was weird because I thought I had typical depression but found out I had autism and it explained why my social skill and behavior is different than others. I'm so thankful to you that you created video. Thank you so much
