A couple little things that helped me start landing these more consistently was to keep pressure on my toes, really focus on popping well, and lean back toward the heel side of the board just a little bit after you pop. It really lets you see the board rotate and I found that it helps me not catch the grip too much and flick my board out in front of me. Keep a solid amount of weight on that front foot and don’t forget to pick up your back foot as soon as you pop. The trickiest part was probably committing to landing with both feet on the board. Good luck and don’t give up!

This is such a better description than the other billion of Kflips tutorials I have watched. Thanks and I'm going to learn them this year now!

I kept getting stuck on the one practice step you see on Braille and other channels about standing still and just sliding your foot up and flicking over and over. This video helped something click in my brain to where now I can easily flip the board without having my front foot going straight down. The way I interpret this video is that having that front ankle "flush" (for lack of a better word) with the board as it makes its way up from the pop really cuts down on the amount of movement that is required. I started paying attention to the point where my ankle felt "parallel" (I need a dictionary) to the board and then just sent out a small ankle flick that would produce a nice spin each time while my front foot was still in the air. That almost upwards motion of the ankle flick is what keeps my front foot up. The sliding the foot over and over made me feel like I needed to extend my front leg really far like a karate kick. I feel like that is probably still the right way to get really solid kickflips, but the info at 2:48 really helped me once I marinated on it. Thanks for the help!

Great tip! One thing that really helped me learn kickflips properly was making sure my shoulders stayed fully square with the board throughout the whole trick. When i started doing that properly my front foot really started gripping to the slide up the board which helped get them a lot higher.
Also you have a very beautiful kickflip!

Great vid dude, I think this is the only video I’ve seen where you specifically say you have to WAIT until you do the flick, not flick straight away. For me the feeling is like waiting until my head is over the front of the board before the flick.

It was magic to me watching the board rise and spin. It was just too quick of a motion to actually catch the technique... this was helpful. Thx!

Just found your channel, thank you, the way you explain and show things is really helpful to me. Hope you start making videos again/more often, even for basic things like ollie and top 5 initial tricks :-)

I discovered the waiting to flick bit by accident today! Soooo helpful! Haven't seen other people mention it.

A few things that helped me out a *lot* when I relearned kickflips (after not doing them for 20 years lol)
- Like Skidish said, wait until you pop before you flick!
- Jump back a little bit. This helped greatly with my front foot
- Be patient when you're in the air over the board.
- Keep your backfoot at least in the same line as it was when you popped.
- Jump higher, let the board get more vertical before you flick, and tuck your back knees in when you're going for bigger flips.

Kickflips are so fun but also a huuuge challenge to learn. Learning how to commit and put both feet back on the board was the hardest thing for me mentally. Just gotta trust yourself 😊
