Four people have died as California’s biggest wildfire of 2022 continues to spread in the western US state. Known as the McKinney fire, the blaze in Siskiyou County in the northern part of the state near Oregon has scorched about 226 sq km (87 square miles), nearly twice the size of San Francisco. California is home to about 2 million properties considered to be in wildfire zones, or about half of such buildings in the country. The McKinney fire has been burning for over four days, killing two people who burned to death in a car and two others who were found dead at their home, according to authorities. Fire officials said that as of late August 3, none of the fire had been contained.

I live in CA and every year it gets worse. All of us mourn every year for that death and damage the fires cause. Forest management isn't allowed to do what they want and need too which is controlled burns which is what our forests NEED, and would reduce this humongous fires but no one listens to us of the tribes here.

Greg understood that this situation would make Michael terribly uncomfortable. Life isn't always beautiful. That was a lesson that Dan was learning. He also realized that life wasn't easy. This had come as a shock since he had lived a charmed life. He hated that this was the truth and he struggled to be happy knowing that his assumptions weren't correct. He wouldn't realize until much later in life that the difficult obstacles he was facing that were taking away the beauty in his life at this moment would ultimately make his life much more beautiful. I thought I’d hike it when I fly in from Maryland on my day off from the senior citizen's wellness conference. I hiked 2 miles a day around the neighborhood so I could handle a 1.1-mile hike. What a foolish mistake that was for a 70-year-old low-lander.

How had she been so wrong? All her instincts and intuition completely failed her for the first time in her life. She had so heavily relied on both when making decisions up until this moment and she felt a seismic shift take place in her self-confidence. If she could be so completely wrong about something so simple as this, how could she make decisions about really important things taking place in her life? She wasn't sure what she should do next.
