As a Nigerian, i am so grateful for Dr. Salk👏👏 When my grandparents were young, polio was a serious disease here but they and others got the vaccine and it saved so many lives. Same with my parents and me later in the late 90s when i was born. Polio is less of a threat now. God bless Dr. Salk.

As an ESL teacher, I've been using this to teach past modals. What might have happened if Dr. Salk hadn't worked so hard and been so generous? How must the world have felt when the vaccine became available? Great material for these kinds of questions.

Something worth mentioning is that unlike the labs today, Dr. Salk did not seek financial reward for his work.
