TRIP REPORT SINGAPORE AIRLINES LONDON TO SINGAPORE: PREMIUM ECONOMY v ECONOMY (A380/Boeing 777)

I've recently come back from an amazing trip to Singapore. It was my first time flying with Singapore Airlines and I was very impressed with everything - the crew, the service, the food, the planes and the fact that you get a 30kg baggage allowance even in economy. I'd booked economy tickets with Singapore Airlines, but on the way out from London to Singapore I was REALLY LUCKY to get upgraded to Premium Economy. On the way back from Singapore I wasn't so lucky and flew back economy class. This Trip Report offers an inside look, review and comparison of the two classes - Premium Economy v Economy - and looks at what each one offers to help you make a decision what to book. London to Singapore is a LONG journey - the return took 13 hours - so you want to be comfortable. This video review looks at the seats, the space, the seat recline, legroom, the amenities, the entertainment, the food, the drinks, the snacks - they offer particularly great and even HEALTHY snacks actually. Great crisps and even fresh bananas and pot noodles. They also served fabulous ice-cream with lunch on the way out. And in Premium Economy you even get proper champagne, not some cheap sparkling wine alternative. My outbound flight was on an Airbus A380 and my return flight was on a Boeing 777, so it's not exactly like for like, but the service is the same on both. It's only the economy seat configuration that's different in the Boeing. You'll notice how exhausted I am at the end of the video, it's not just from the long flight but also from an amazing, but hectic trip abroad! I actually think that Singapore Airlines is a VERY good airline and was very happy with it, even in economy.

It’s hard to find a video where the seat is actually shown and spoken. Perfect balance between spoken review and music footage. Keep up the good work, thank you!

Thank you so much for your video, it was incredibly helpful. I booked premium economy and was surprised at how much more expensive it is … but you’ve reassured me that it will be worth it as I’m very tall!

Thanks for the upload. This was really useful for us, we’ve just booked Premium Economy on the A380 for the same journey, were the seats you had the ones that had the toilets behind you ? I just wondered if you were disturbed by people going in and out and flushing ? We can’t decide between the extra legroom at the front or those at the back. Thanks

What kind of premium economy were you at? I am confused between premium economy lite, premium economy standard, and premium economy flexi... 😳

I'm choosing any A830 over SA 777 seats or if possible done an update to PE. I can't ever do the 777 economy again I was in so much pain. The best part of any PE is the footrest when you are only 5'2.

You were so lucky to be upgraded to premium economy, maybe they thought because you were so glamorous you should be bumped up a class!

Wow! Those economy seats are tight! I am 5 ft 7 and I travel with my sister who is 5 ft 10. That would be a real squeeze.

If you have to fly economy always try to book the A380 . Also pay extra and book your seat.

why would you book a long haul and not reserve the seat of your choice before travel.duh,

Worst premium economy I have flown. 777 aircraft back from Heathrow were both worn out.

your better off booking the extra legroom seats, at a small extra cost, the premium economy is good for a free upgrade, but to pay almost double the normal fare for that seat is a complete waste of money, its a poor mans wanna be business class,
