How Good Was Michael Jordan Wearing No 45 Actually?

Michael Jordan has his comeback in 1995 when he wore Number 45 instead of 23.

Before we evaluate how good michael jordan wearing no.45 was, we gotta take a look at how good he was when he retired for the first time.

MJ and the chicago bulls beat the phoenix suns in the 1992 nba finals. And jordan was unstoppable. Many People concider this michael jordans prime.

Jordan avg 41 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.3 assits per game in that series and was literally unstoppable. The suns tried many different defenders on

mj, but the result was always the same. This guy shot over 53 percent from the field and was making shots from all over the court. The bulls won the championship

and won their 3 rd straight nba title.

Then, as we all know he retired and played baseball until he finally came back for the last 17 games of the 1994/95 season.

And this, as you can remember was a very big deal...

Video

So this is what we have to keep in mind. When Jordan was playing Baseball he was shaping his body, to be the perfect baseball body. Training different muscles,

than you would for playing baskeball. And of course he only had a handfull of training sessions with the bulls. So preparation wise this comeback was very very early.

Fun Fact: When I talked to Tim Hardaweay, he told me that Jordan also once worked out with the golden state warriors before his comeback.

Anyway, his first game was against the indiana pacers. the hype was huge. Expectations super high.

Jordan made it into the starting line up right away. Did he play well?

Honestly, no. He had a very bad game. You could see that he was still rusty. Some good plays here and there but overall it was a 7 of 28 performance.

The next game the bulls played against the boston celtics, and jordan would score 27 points while shooting over 50 percent.

He looked a lot more confident and prooved that there is still some good old mj in him left.

But this is exactly would would happen with mj that season. some great performances and some bad ones.

Still he was giving the bulls the needed boost.

And then there was some vintage michaeel jordan moments.

On the 25th of march 1995 mj and the bulls were playing the atlanta hawks. And what can i say mj was mj again.32 points and that one crutial play

that mj was and is known for.

If I had to pick his best game of that series it had to be the double nickel game. 55 points against who? Of course the new york knicks

Jordan finished the regular season avg 27 points per game and help the bulls to win 13 out of their last 17 regular seaspon games..
also in the playoffs jordan would have some great games, but also games where he just did not play well.
this was good enough to defeat the charlotte hornets in the first round of the playoffs, but not good enough to beat the up and coming orlando magic and the second round.
if we take a honest look at his first season it was a good but not great season. but taking into consideration that he hadnt played for over a year this is a increabable feed.

Gave me the chills when you mentioned how excited you were seeing him play again in his first comeback game. I must admit myself, as much of a fan I am of basketball, I watched the NBA a lot less after he retired, yes there were a lot of exciting star players to watch while he was gone but it wasn't the same as watching MJ doing MJ things.

There is no school like the old school. MJ the GOAT, his “Airness” changed the game, the way we watched and what we expected from “The Best.” No one comes close to Ali and no one comes close to MJ. There were no easy paths to the rims, defense was at a premium and being a 3pt specialist wasn’t enough to get you on the court. Imagine if Craig Hodges played today. The game is different yes, but MJs greatness transcends generations. You think Tyson Fury beats Prime Ali? You put MJ in this era it’s a megalodon in a pool with one great white and a bunch of sea turtles. Like Jay-Z said one day you all gone learn to respect The King. ✌🏾

They stole his jersey once on the road & he had to wear #12 for the game, strangely it didn't mess up his play at all because - well, he's still Michael Jordan!

MJ was only down in 94-95 by HIS OWN INCREDIBLE STANDARD....even that year..every other team in the NBA would've traded ANYBODY they HAD for #45!

I wasn't surprised when he played that Indiana game. I was just just excited he was back, and was loving seeing a side of him we'd never seen. raw, unpolished, but knowing the potential he had, it was like something totally new. I loved that he wasn't 100% right off.

I actually liked Mike more when he first came back in 1994. He was more muscled and bulkier in 1996-1998 and wasn’t as explosive. When he fist came back he didn’t yet have his lift back, but by the playoffs against the Hornets and Magic he had some explosive dunks and plays. He was more like the pre-retirement Jordan. Still great in his championship run, but when he first came back her reminded me more of pre-retirement Jordan.

I was not expecting anything really, I was weirded out that he was back. At the time, I believe nobody else had ever done that, come back from retirement that way. We were as shocked by his 'I'm Back' as we were by his retirement. I believe I still remember that conversation by Hannah Storm and Peter Vecsey about the jersey number. At the time the Bulls were trying to find themselves, first Peter Myers than Ron Harper were the replacements, Pete was quickly gone but Ron found new life in the second Michael era. I think Bulls management was just happy that they did not have to figure out what to do with the team.
