This guy does not understand the United States armor doctrine of the Second World War. Sherman’s were the perfect medium tank with its main objective being infantry support. It doesn’t matter that a Sherman can’t match up to a Tiger when there’s 200 Sherman’s for every 1 Tiger on the western front. It doesn’t matter that this 1 Tiger destroyed 4 Sherman’s when every town in a 30 mile radius was taken because there was a medium Sherman tank on every street while the infantry was sweeping every house for the Germans that were defending them.

The United States had different doctrine than Germany. It also had different logistical considerations than Germany. The calculus of war proved to be It was cheaper in both men and material. To mass produce a medium tank that was easy to transport from North America to Europe or Africa.

In the beginning of the war, American Lee and Sherman tanks were definitely inferior. However once the teething process was done and upgrades implemented the Sherman was a very good tank.

nuh fucking uh.
Early 75 Shermans yes did struggle with heavy armor, probably because they werent made to fight armor.
But then were outfitted with a high velocity 76 which could effectively pen Tigers from the front.
Also the Tiger 2 sucked.
Its thick armor and horrible transmission made it a snail and a big target for allied bombers which were unopposed due to the existence of the Luftwaffe being none.
