What was the Great Schism? What was the major effect caused by the Great Schism? In this video, we'll walk through the history of the East-West Schism from 1054 AD, and the ripple effects caused by the schism.

Excerpt:
The eastern and western parts of the church have had a long history of unity and disunity as Christianity spread around the world. Historians speak of an East-West Schism as a singular event that took place in the year 1054. But there was more behind this single event that led to the East-West Schism of the church.

This schism, would have to upset God so much. A separation of the Church that shouldn't have happened, once again Man has failed God.

Where can I read a copy of the exact excommunication document that was propounded upon the Greek church. And also the responding excommunication document that was per pound it up on the Roman church? I’d like to read the original document. I was in English of course!

Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, and you will be saved..Be baptized and repent of your sins. Repent simply means to turn away from your sins. God loves you and so do I.

Il trying to find out which church to join(I was raised a catholic but was born again about a year ago) I’m trying to find the right church—either stick with Catholicism, switch to orthodox, or join a non-denominational church—this video was very educational and well done but the more I learn about church history the more I get confused about which church to join. Any suggestions?✝️

This article ignores the fact that the church was divided long before the so-called "Great Schism." There was the division between Trinitarians and Unitarians. And the division between Chalcedonian and non-Chalcedonian churches in the East.

Reminds me a bit of the OT story of the confusing of languages at the Tower of Babel.

I’m orthodox but we need to come together and unite as one! I’m okay to adopt some of the disagreements we have with Catholicism

I'm 31 and grew up catholic. I'm just now teaching myself of other religions. I have no faith. But I love the history of religion.

I believe the correct words run like, 'Love one another.'

Excellent summary of the Great Schism and its underlying roots. I understand your toning down your descriptions of the Crusades as being "misbehavior" but it was dramatically more than that. When the Muslims took over Constantinople they didn't kill many people. When the "Christian" Crusaders came they left no one alive. It was a massacre -- mass murder, plundering, raping, you name it they did it. But overall, this video is a very thorough overview of the history that provides a lot of detail other descriptions of the Schism don't go into. Thanks, you have a new subscriber with alerts!
