The Great Schism: Greek East vs Latin West.

A look at the breakdown in the relationship between the churches of Rome and Constantinople, which included petty personality conflicts, diverging political interests, and a few fundamental disagreements. We'll also look at how and why the rift has never been healed despite repeated attempts for the past 1,000 years.

I love these lectures. His detailed level of knowledge of so many historical topics and ability to share it with laymen is amazing!

Please, handle the questions at the end. Don't interrupt the lecturer. Thanks.

I like these lectures. It would be helpful for those of us who follow on YouTube if the lecture could come first without interruption and be followed by a question and answer period.

(Another) Outstanding lecture! ...Loved the explanation of the how they designated the "Vatican II" council, and the Seven Hills of Rome, as well as the distinction between a Basilica and Cathedrals. ...Fascinating history, even for those of us with a secular orientation. Hope we can all share these with others.

He was starting to get frustrated with the multuple stupid questions about why it's called 'Vatican 2". Usually his crowd isn't so thick. 😆

I'm torn about these interruptions that do not add to the topic but just say "Oh, this thing you are talking about reminds me of another thing I want to tell you about right now." It's obviously a distraction but also shows genuine interest in history in general. So, I guess the lecturer doesn't want to be be a spoilsport to his engaged audience.

I’ve watched several of your videos but it seems the master volume for this video needs to be boosted—however that works. I’ve got my volume at 100% still kinda quite

Why don't you handle question the end? You are interrupting you good flow by handling often silly questions.

East is Platonic. West is Aristotelian.

In the West, they started to destroy icons, stained glass and statues when Protestant cult emerged in 16th century. The Protestant wars replicated the iconoclast fight in the 8th century. Nothing new.

It's interesting that you start with talking about East and West.. I think about those semantics a lot.

The Umayyads were Christians, Islam didn’t start till the 8-9th century by the Abbasids in Baghdad, Muslims/Islam did not exist in the 7th century, anti-trinitarian was in vogue in the east under the Umayyads

The worse session I have viewed so fat. You allowed this session to be spoiled by students virtually whispering questions some of which were trivial.
Your material is very good. Please think bout your greater audience.
