We need to stop mentioning the Filioque as the sole reason for the split. The Eastern and Western Churches had building tensions for a few centuries prior to 1054. The Filioque is one reason among many but many make it out to be bigger than it actually is.

The original Apostolic Church, dating back to Pentecost, started by the Apostles, is the Orthodox and Catholic Church. I am hopeful that one day, they will reunite and put their politics aside.

It's sad that the church is so divided today

What’s sad is that it seems both Churches believe that there is no salvation for anyone outside “the church” meaning their church. I find it hard to believe that God expects us to be theologians and properly discern the correct denomination of Christianity when both are so beautiful and similar.

Filioque, the dumbest resson to not get along. From what I've learned the reason of the Filioque was to preserve the belief of Christ diety because there was a rise of nestorianism (or the herisy that denies Christ divinity) happening in Spain. They added the Filioque to show that Christ is devine and not just a man. Filioque doesnt change a belief, it still teach that the Holy Spirit comes from the Father, everything that the Son has, comes from the Father, so if the Holy Spirit also comes from the Son, it ultimately comes from the Father because everything that Son has comes from the Father. Again, this doesn't change the belief of Holy Spirit coming from the Father but it was a way to show Christ divinity to a rise of heretics in a certain land.

The problem with the roman catholic church is its misunderstanding of "keys to heaven"...it goes about exerting dominance instead of humbling itself...popes need to understand God opposes the proud and lifts up the humble.
