Why Did Mormon and Moroni Write in Reformed Egyptian? (Knowhy #513)

Moroni indicates that he and his father Mormon wrote in a script called "reformed Egyptian." Many have wondered what reformed #Egyptian might be and why #BookofMormon record-keepers wrote in such a script. While there is much that is unknown about reformed Egyptian, some clues about its nature emerge from a close reading of the Book of Mormon text and comparison with other real-world #ancient scripts.

Joseph Smith claimed that he could read Egyptian, and so he bought some old papyrus and claimed to "decipher" the book of Abraham. Later people who could actually read Egyptian showed that the papyrus was common funerary text and had nothing to do with Abraham.

I firmly believe that Book of Mormon Central is doing its part in fulfilling President Benson’s vision:
“I have a vision of homes alerted, of classes alive, and of pulpits aflame with the spirit of Book of Mormon messages.
I have a vision of home teachers and visiting teachers, ward and branch officers, and stake and mission leaders counseling our people out of the most correct of any book on earth—the Book of Mormon.
I have a vision of artists putting into film, drama, literature, music, and paintings great themes and great characters from the Book of Mormon.
I have a vision of thousands of missionaries going into the mission field with hundreds of passages memorized from the Book of Mormon so that they might feed the needs of a spiritually famished world.
I have a vision of the whole Church getting nearer to God by abiding by the precepts of the Book of Mormon.
Indeed, I have a vision of flooding the earth with the Book of Mormon” (Flooding the Earth with the Book of Mormon, Oct. 1988).
There is still much work to do!

A week or two ago I watched a video of a man named Jerry Gordan who, through much time and effort, translated the characters document provided by Joseph Smith Jr. for the experts to study. He is not an Egyptologist nor has any degree in ancient language studies, so his work has largely been ignored by experts today. Afraid of what they might find perhaps? But this man who translated it found several different writing styles represented. The numbers were the Teotihuacan Ismian style, the rest were a mixture of Demotic and Hieratic Egyptian styles, in every case the form used depended on which was shorter when written. Just like it says in The Book Of Mormon.

You know, since reformed Egyptian is pictorial and can convey ideas rather than word for word, this could give a little more context as to why the Book of Mormon contains examples of KJV language. He had to translate those ideas into English verbiage based on his native way of speaking and thinking. Any, just thinking thoughts. Love this please keep it up!

There is another explaination for all this, but I'm sure you don't want to hear it.

This explains why Moroni told the Lord that the Gentiles would make fun of his writings.

The Book of Mormon clarify the Bible,
FAITH:
11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew 11)
21 And now as I said concerning faith—faithis not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true.
(Alma 32)
THE DIVINITY OF JESUS CHRIST:
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.(Matthew 5)
48 Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect.
(3 Nephi 12:48)
How to give the name for His Church
7 Therefore, whatsoever ye shall do, ye shall do it in my name; therefore ye shall call the church in my name; and ye shall call upon the Father in my name that he will bless the church for my sake.

8 And how be it my church save it be called in my name? For if a church be called in Moses’ name then it be Moses’ church; or if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called in my name then it is my church, if it so be that they are built upon my gospel.

9 Verily I say unto you, that ye are built upon my gospel; therefore ye shall call whatsoever things ye do call, in my name; therefore if ye call upon the Father, for the church, if it be in my name the Father will hear you;

10 And if it so be that the church is built upon my gospel then will the Father show forth his own works in it.
11 But if it be not built upon my gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, verily I say unto you they have joy in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are hewndown and cast into the fire, from whence there is no return.
12 For their works do follow them, for it is because of their works that they are hewn down; therefore remember the things that I have told you.
13 Behold I have given unto you my gospel, and this is the gospel which I have given unto you—that I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me.
(3 Nephi 27)

PROPER WAY OF BAPTISM

24 And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying:

25 Having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

26 And then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water.

27 And after this manner shall ye baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one.

The Book of Mormon
saved me from false teaching, the philosophy of men, mingled of scriptures.
False teaching of INCARNATION mingled with John 1:14

Reading the Book of Mormon makes all the difference! It's the most comforting, peaceful, inspiring scripture. Without a doubt, it's a true ancient document written for our day. Read it and be inspired!

The Book of Mormon is the word of God, and it testifies of Jesus Christ. And it is true.

such a joke this explanation. The reason Smith said he wrote in egyptian language is because egyptian writing is the "language of god and of the gods", meaning much more superior to a simple alphabetic writing system.
Said this it's obvious that this Mormon book is a joke, an american fairy tale

What secular texts exist to validate the book of mormon? How was reformed Egyptian a language when during the reign of king zodakai judah only spoke Hebrew and aramaic. How did this language appear in the americS when the Manassah cat never spoke the language? Stop it bro. Aramaic refers back to chaldean language not Egyptian.
