Moroni or Nephi?

Joseph Smith claimed that in 1823, he was visited by the angel Moroni, who informed him of an ancient record, engraven on gold plates, and buried in a nearby hill. It is. Joseph Smith didn't even know that he was translating an ancient Egyptian record into English. It wasn't until the late 1970's to the 1980's that the LDS church asked Egyptian scholar, Sami Hanna to translate the Book of Mormon into Egyptian. He said that it's perfect Egyptian that only existed during the only time in history when the Egyptian's, Greeks and Hebrews had an alliance and used a type of reformed Egyptian. The Book of Mormon is Egyptian and Joseph Smith was so ignorant that he put it word for word Egyptian but into English, which makes for terrible English but perfect Egyptian.

I love how easy it us to tell the difference between faith promoting and faith damaging material. Our enemies quite literally cant help themselves. Like the Nephite dissenters who painted their faces so they differentiate between the righteous branch.

Such a big deal over nothing. Yes the angel, who was Nephi, one of the 3 Nephites came and went with various things, one time even meeting Joseph and his travelling companions on the road with a backpack. This same Nephi was the one who returned with the small plates to the Whitmer home and showed the plates to the mom, as you mention. As a translated being he can come and go as he pleases. He could also meet Joseph and would have gotten to know him over various visits. Yet the original messenger could easily have been Moroni in his home as he stated. The work of retrieving the plates and bringing the back and forth could then easily have been taken care of by Nephi since he still had a body, just as Enoch or John the Beloved still do. I don't hold with many church teachings like polygamy, priesthood bans, Adam god, Blood oaths and more that were brought in later after Joseph was removed by his friends. Sometimes straining at a gnat you get a camel.
