All I hear about is futuristic worlds and how we're making so many advances. It feels kind of empty. My dad passed away with Alzheimer's and pancreatic cancer in 2019. If anything, Alzheimer's and cancer is only becoming more prevalent over time and they still don't have a cure, even though they have been researching it for years and years. I wish they would amp up their focus in this area. Some people say they won't because Alzheimer's and cancer makes them too much money - I really hope that's not true.

The scariest about AI is not AI itself. It's the fact that humans are easy to trick and control. And we see it everyday already. TV ads, marketing, propaganda... Humans are animals wether we like it or not. We react to what our senses tell us. take a scary movie. Without the sound or music, it is less scary. Now without the image but with the sounds and music it is actually scarier. You can hear there is danger but you don't see from where it will come. So when the AI will understand how we function and how it can manipulate us it will be too late.

Harari's message would be more palatable if the information his associations are behind weren't always the most dangerous disinfo to be found on the internet and in news studios.

What happens when one side keeps saying you are the enemy and go on preemptive attacks, and the other side has to begin to defend themselves? That is what is happening in the US.

One thing Yuval misses is that all the social media companies have learned to keep our attention on their platforms AND work for FREE. Hate does that. Fear does that...and we think nothing of unionizing everyone on social media.
