Early Morning Walk|| Exploring the Charming English Village of Daglingworth

Daglingworth is a charming English Village in the Cotswolds, just outside Cirencester and the first of the villages along the Duntisbourne Valley.

The name Daglingworth dates back to circa 1150. Translated literally, it means 'enclosure of the family or adherents of Dæggel or Dæccel

As with many smaller villages in the Cotswolds, most of the buildings are now private houses.

The Church of the Holy Rood in the village is an Anglo-Saxon church with well-preserved stone carvings, including an Anglo-Saxon crucifixion tablet dating to 1015. There is also a canonical sundial on the south wall.

There are only 22 churches dedicated to the Holy Rood in England. This is one, and certainly one of the most historically interesting country churches in the south-west.

The village is enchanting. I can look anywhere, there are these beautiful stone houses all over the place. The slightly hilly landscape sets this place in a beautiful setting.
