Early Morning Walk || Exploring Bagendon, COTSWOLDS Hidden Gem

Bagendon is an archaeological site located near Cirencester in the Cotswolds District of Gloucestershire, England. It is an Iron Age hillfort that dates back to the 1st century BCE. The hillfort is situated on a hill overlooking the Churn Valley and covers an area of approximately 16 hectares.

Bagendon was an important settlement during the Iron Age and was occupied by the Dobunni tribe, who were a Celtic people. The hillfort was fortified with defensive earthworks, including ramparts and ditches, which would have provided protection to the inhabitants.

Excavations at Bagendon have revealed evidence of roundhouses, storage pits, and other structures, indicating that it was a thriving community. The site has also yielded a significant number of artifacts, such as pottery, coins, and metalwork, providing insights into the daily lives of the people who lived there.

One of the notable features of Bagendon is its proximity to the Roman town of Corinium - modern-day Cirencester (Capital of the Cotswolds). The hillfort may have served as a precursor to the Roman settlement and could have had strategic importance in the region.

Today, Bagendon is an important archaeological site and is managed by English Heritage. Visitors can explore the site and learn about its history through information panels and guided tours. It offers a glimpse into the Iron Age past of the area and the cultural and social aspects of the people who inhabited it.

I am from deep in the Appalachia. This is so very similar to here. The Quiet, the peace, the song birds, and the Whimsy. I wouldn't trade a thing for this type of life! It's a true blessing 🙌 some days you don't hear a car or a person just nature!

I go Biking, Walking, Camping & Metal detecting around ENGLAND and i love going into the cemetery of Churches and reading the headstones (Yes I'm weird) And i found one headstone dated 1641 when the lady passed away she was 66 YO so she was born in the 1500's thats the oldest one I've ever found can't for the life of me remember the church's name but this was in the 1990's..😃👍

I’m an American, who went to England in the 70’s and during my time there I went on many Walking/Hiking tours around the country, went to the Cotswolds and am happy that some of this beautiful countryside looks the same.

The UK in our textbooks is now an old and small country despite having a pretty good economy. I have never been to England to appreciate its beauty, but I have come in contact with many English people, and I have been fortunate enough to have never met an angry or rude Englishman. The British in my impression are very kind, polite and charitable people, I have not seen them do anything wrong in my country. And I found the English to be the exact opposite of the French I met.

I know this video has been here awhile, but it is one of my favorites! I am a 69 year old widow who walks with my fitbit in my room to walks in the UK. I am originally from Upstate New York between the Catskills and the Adirondack Mountains, but reside in South Carolina now. But my roots are in the UK on the telly. and I long to walk the land. I especially appreciate this video because of the mix of village to countryside. My favorite walk videos are in the country or beautiful parks, especially in the Lake District.
