Slowing down in a crazy world!
Here's what I'm reading:
In this fast paced world that embraces hustle culture, it is important to slop, slow down, and enjoy life. In this video, I share 6 "figurative" ways to slow down and enjoy life.
1. Let Your Farts Loose
Farting is something that everyone does, but we all all ashamed of. Letting your farts loose represents embracing who you are. We often hide ourselves through our work or other busy activities. We have our own insecurities and imperfections that we don't want the world to know about. It is important to embrace who you are because we are on this planet for a short amount of time. So don't hide doing busy activities.
2. Spend Some Time On The Treadmill
Time moves very slowly when you go on a treadmill partly because it is not enjoyable, but also because it forces you to focus on one activity. Spending some time of the treadmill represents forcing yourself to stop and focus on one activity. We live in a world obsessed with multitasking and productivity, but often when we focus on so many tasks we end up not accomplishing anything. Instead, focus on one task at a time and time will move slower and you can think clearer.
3. Throw Away Your Microwave
We often seek things quickly with little effort like heating up things with a microwave. Throwing away your microwave represents enjoying the process. The ironic thing about doing things quickly is that it makes time speed up . Whatever you do in life like going for a walk, going to the store, or even cooking, it is important to embrace the process (or journey) involved in the activity. That way you don't only enjoy the end result, but you also enjoy the process.
4. Cook Biscuits Instead Of Eggs For Breakfast
In life, we can sometimes put ourselves in routines where we're doing the same thing day after day; however, when you make a small change, it can change your entire day. Cooking biscuits instead of eggs for breakfast represents changing your routine in small ways. Time goes quicker when you do similar things every day because you're not creating any new experiences. And life becomes a grind once we trap ourselves in a routine, but all it takes to break out of a routine is one small change.
5. Go Out And Buy Yourself A Candy Bar
Most of life is boring, but the key to happy life is finding enjoyment in the small things. Going out and buying yourself a candy bar represents finding enjoyment in the little things. If you spend your life only getting enjoyment out of exciting things, time will go quickly because those moments are few and far in between. Instead, try to find enjoyment out of the simple things.
6. Eat The Candy Bar Before The Meal
We often put rules on ourselves that limit our enjoyment in life. Eating the candy bar before the meal represents not bounding yourself to society's dumb rules. Society gives us many "unofficial" rules to live our lives by like waiting to eat dessert; however life is short, so have the candy bar before the meal!
