Does this mean that a half life necessarily follows in the same time span for each remaining division?  In other words, if I take a pill with a 1hr half life then will I have 1/8th of that pill left in 3hrs?

The term half life is also used in the pesticide industry. I'm starting to think this term was invented to make it seem like the problems are only half as bad as they really are. "The pesticides have a half life of three months..." One said by a field rep touting the virtues of spraying crops. But I think they harvested after four months!
