My favorite evidence of this, is when you meet preston garvey. When he asks you to help, if you say no, the objective changes to helping preston and the game moves on exactly the same as if you said yes.

I like how Doc calls you lucky if you have both 1 or 10 Luck. This is a paradox: surviving a headshot with 10 Luck means Luck helped you and you were very lucky; surviving a headshot with 1 Luck means you were very lucky!

This should be renamed to "Every possible Doc Mitchell special comment interupted by the Vault Tec Rep saying "Wonderful""

Obsidian always felt like they wanted to make you feel like just another character in a big, immersive world. While Bethesda always felt like they wanted to make you feel important even at the cost of immersion and storytelling.

Meanwhile, at Bethesda: "Hey kids you wanna buy some mods?"

Do you like Fallout new vegas more than 4?
> Yes
> Yes, but yes
> No, but also yes
> Sarcastic yes

One tiny effect I really love is how if your Charisma is high; Doc Mitchell smiles while he talks to you, but if it's low he gives you that ice cold nuclear winter scowl.

Doc Mitchell managed to be one of the most memorable characters in fallout and you only see him a few times. Hell, just look at Easy Pete. That's how you write a good game. New Vegas will always be the peak of Fallout.

It's even more impressive when NV was made with huge time constraints (18 months), meanwhile Fallout 4 took over 5 years.

Bethesda for the love of GOD update your engine or use unreal 4 and let Obsidian do the next one.

There's also the fact Bethesdas intros have been 30 minutes to an hour of forced slow story since Oblivion, while Obsidian left all that in a convienently skippable cutscene before the game begins. Then they made the actual gameplay intro just a stat setup like it should be. But once Bethesda got Fallout back they went right back to their shit.

That's weird how people say that Bethesda should be praised for keeping the series alive. It's like somebody dug the corpse of your dead grandmother and turned it into a walking corpse. Yes, she kind of looks like her. Kind of. But the soul is gone. You still fondly remember her bedstories and pastry and you really miss them, but you understand that this cadaver is not her. You try to tell the person who did this to put an end to this abomination, but then some kids start arguing with you that this creature is much better than your grandma because it tells awesome dirty stories and can do a back flip.

It's the little things that make the characters and story that much more lovable.
Seems to me that Bethesda forgot that.

RPG with shooter elements VS Shooter game with RPG elements. New Vegas is the better Fallout by far.

In short
Obsidian: "we want you guys to get to the point and your choices matter"
Bethesda: "we are gonna dick you guys around, give you vague options but everything will play out how WE want it"
