lol this was me in 2007... I bought my first home and boom, collapsed and I went into negative equity and took me 10 years to recover. Now fair warning everyone, I am just about to by another house having saved up my deposit again. so given my track record I think there is 100% chance of this happening after I complete.

It will never crash as long as people keep buying.. The problem is the people buying aren't first time home owners, they are AirBNB rich kids, Foreign millionaires, and bored middle aged couples looking for a hobby like they watch on tv

We sold our inherited home in old Portsmouth for £500, 000 7 years ago. It was in very good order but not touched for 30 years although pretty modern for its time. An identical house in the same order and with the same same size garden is up for sale today for £520, 000 in old Portsmouth. 100% proof that house prices are the same as 7 years ago and the ONS and Land registry are cooking the books on house prices. In industry that would be called fraud but this is the government doing this and it is a disgrace.

I can't tell you anything about homes. However...for random items on the market, they will be discontinued just as soon as I fall in love with them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The prices are reducing everyday on rightmove, and sods law, we find our dream house but everyone wants it and we are forced to pay full price.

I had 100k in a property in 2008, just finished it, got 46k when it crashed, it was basically overnight,

Prices will probably significantly drift down over the next few years but if you need to buy and can afford it and are not planning to move for 5 years then, like you say, you should move.

Boom and bust will always be the case with UK property. I’m less bothered about the price and just aiming to pay the mortgage off.

That's exactly what happened to me in 2007, unfortunately I wasn't able to keep hold of the property as the person I bought it with demanded we sell and I could not afford to own it on my own 7 years later due to all of the new affordability checks that came in after that market crash.
