One thing I liked about the Skyrim dark brotherhood is that by the end, Astrid had broken all of the tenets. And I liked the "series of small jobs leading to the big one" structure. Then they broke the momentum by having you, the Listener do the jobs for the Night Mother instead of giving them to a speaker (Obviously Nazir would make an excellent speaker as that was his unofficial position anyway)
