Hi Dad. I will miss you.

My father was a truly unique man. No one is perfect, and I think that’s what made him the genuine down to earth man he was. He showed me the definition of honesty , fairness , and, what a father is supposed to be : selfless; put your children first. He is truly the standard of what a dad is supposed to be and I want to be that rock for Laura.

Examples: always asked me if I had eaten and made sure I got fed first and had enough. If I asked him to do something for me he did it yesterday. Very often he was the only parent in the stands watching my hockey games. Basically he was there. He was always ALWAYS there for me. He was even at my wedding in Italy and my daughter’s first birthday also in Italy.

He was a walking encyclopedia of historical and sports figures. His passion was history and even up till the end I wanted to hear more about history from him.
The man had a great dry wit and his laugh was genuine that made you want to laugh with him. I loved watching all in the family with him!

He was a very precise person and I must say I trusted no one more than him. My rock in so many areas of life. I am fortunate to have had a father like him and I blessed to have had 44 years with him. When I saw him last week he was calm, more or less in good spirits , and he was thrilled to see Laura again. His last words to me were “thank you for bringing her to us “. He looked great for a man of 80.

Dad, Thank you for the gift of life and for just being you. I pray that God welcomes you with open arms and I will pray for you every day as long as I live. Your loyal and loving son, David

Dear David, I send you my deepest condolences to you and your family. I had the immense pleasure of working with your father for nearly three years at the WDS Museum in Wethersfield. He took me under his wing as soon as I started and was always so kind and considerate. He was so extremely passionate about history and especially Silas Deane. Your father knew SO much and I learned so much from him. I wrote a small feature about him for the museum's email newsletter. I no longer work at the museum, but I spent some time with your father at the 5th CT Regiment encampment in Wethersfield on Memorial Day weekend. He took so much pride in coordinating that event, and it was fun to see him in his true element! I will never forget your father. He was kind, funny, caring, and smart. I am so honored that he came into my life and I was proud to call him a friend. I will never forget him.

David, your a sincere guy and it shows through your videos the apple doesn't fall far from the tree & I would think your Father was a humble/ nice guy he was probably proud that you embraced the Italian culture on his side but being a good person even more.Youll find down the road that there will always be an emptiness but you can fill some back with memories & teaching/ showing your family what a good man is about from a good teacher
