A few years ago and before I started using a DAW I came across a fantastic bit of software called RiffStation and one of it's functions was to load an MP3 format tune, press the appropriate command, wait a few seconds and upon playing the tune it would tell you what and where the chords were. Not perfect but pretty useful to someone with no musical knowledge (me). A couple of years ago with a new PC and Cubase 12 installed I decided to sort out the email with download link and serial number to reinstall this software. Disappointed big time as the site and product are no longer available.

I can't thank you enough for this vlog in letting me know that I had this chord revealing function already there within Cubase 12.

I'm in a covers band and though most of the time chord sheets exist, this makes it easy to sort out what things should be

Tips: tune and bounce the track, a lot of 60s stuff is not tuned to 440hz.

Get the tempo matched to the project so chord changes fall on the bar (assuming they do!)

Strip out the vocals using Spectral Layers - harmony vocals may overcomplicate things.

Don't be afraid to simplify chords - Cubase may pick up some melodic fills.

A good test is Dr Hook, A Little Bit More where the Internet can't agree what the chords really are.

It's amazing to see how simple Cubase makes some pretty useful processes! At the same time, it's amazing, many of us tend to miss such things, and your channel is a must-follow for providing such info, and more advanced obviously.

That's some crazy alchemy going on not just for writing, but for learning cover songs when you don't have the charts.

Cubase is the best and most complex daw in Midi and Composing - would like to see much more of this stuff in C13 ! ❤
