This album I discovered alongside a friend of mine. We listen to it constantly. Luckily, this isn't a sappy story or anything, cause he's still alive and well. It's just amazing how this album started a really great thing we do, where about once a month, we spend an entire day just showing one another all the great new music we've discovered. Good Kid just has a special place in my heart as one of the albums that started all of this. Music is such an important part of my life, and this album is an important part of music.

The thing with Good Kid is that just of their songs sound fun, making it easy to write them off as not serious. Yet the upbeat sound of the music belies a level of depth and sophistication just below the surface that is rarely seen in such young musicians.
Faster brought me to tears today as I reflected on the meaning of the words. Of course, I could be totally off, but I understand it as a beautifully tragic song about growing older. The first part of both verses are similar, reflecting the cyclical and repetitive nature of time- days, weeks, months, and-in this case- years. The words of the second verse are a little confused, reflecting the deterioration of mind and memory as years pass. Finally, the chorus is a promise, perhaps futile: "I won't forget." Wherever we are going, we will go together. I promise that I won't forget you. I won't forget us.
My grandfather passed away this year. He had dementia. He would forget what we were talking about and he would forget what he had for breakfast, but I'm eternally grateful that he never forgot me. It reminds me to savor every moment together with those I love and to make memories worth treasuring. We're not promised anything in this world- even those memories can be taken from us.

A friend of mine showed me Alchemist, and I loved it. I went and looked up the EP, and every song is just great! I just love how energetic each song is, and their lyrics are so catchy! The guitars and bass and the drums are amazing, and the vocals are great! This has become one of my favorite EP’s and I’m really glad my friend showed me this band.
