Im a nurse who used to work in a country’s general hospital emergency department and im sooo glad that i walked out of the profession and now working in other service sector where its ok to make mistakes/ errors and be forgiven by it. I used to feel sooo scared of making mistakes during my first years of working but im glad my boss always tap me and reassure me that its ok…i have never felt so human, normal, and healthy since.

The Family has forgiven her . The governor ignored nurses petition for clemency . He has forgotten nurses sacrificed during Pandemic . This is the time for him to listen . Only nurses can understand a nurse . She is not a real criminal. No intention of killing. Her inexperienced and not following safe practice is the consequences of this. Still, she is not a real criminal. Nurses shd stand behind her and stop pretending it will not happen to them . What if this is the governor daughter ? Hypocrisy. He has granted clemency in the past with intent to kill … This is a nurse who was honest from the start of her mistake . It takes true character to admit a mistake .

I was an MICU-CCU for 28 years, its blood, sweat and tears ang puhunan ko. It's really so stressful ! Kaya most of the nurses I worked with including me, puro kami may high blood pressures issues.

Medicine is not perfect there are lots of Doctors who committed mistakes far More than hers Negligence at its best but most of them are still practicing rarely in jail nor license revoked they paid the family by their malpractice insurance and sometimes they just got suspended rarely you can hear nurses commit this kind of mistake it’s not intentional it’s a medical accident they should just revoke her license and pay or serve a jail time but not 8 years A lot of people will be scared to go into Nursing profession anymore Nurses dies from getting diseases from patients there will be shortage of nurses again then there will be more mistakes because they’ll be understaff The Family is very rich from what I heard no nurses want their patient dies on their shift even if they are expected to die this will really scare a lot of people who would want to be nurses they might think twice they can get paid more than Nurses on 8 hour work not dealing with patients Nurses are overworked they have 2-3 jobs that’s why they make a lot of money they work days and nights that’s why a lot of them developed Cancer I wouldn’t want my children to go on this profession they are not being respected as they should be This is what they called in the Philippines The Glorified Maids It’s not fair when Doctors get away for more crimes nurses are being blamed for their mistakes also Nurses are like shock absorbers being yelled at can not answer back most of the time because they are second class citizen in the Hospital the second Filipino lady talks as if she has not made mistakes in her profession I bet you she did but she will not admit it this lady who got convicted admitted it she’s very honest it’s an honest mistake we’re not saying she should not be punished but putting her in jail for 8 years for a crime she didn’t intend to do I think that’s not fair people who intentionally killed others will get less jail time it’s the Politics of Health Care as Nurses we need to stand for ourselves for our co Nurses we are not to judge they will always say what if that happens to your family anything can happen to any family accidentally in or out the hospitals come on now .

Ms. Rosalie Gambito, I understand your perspective about “what is wrong is wrong”, I agree with you. However, is there any underlying causes of this error? Staffing wise? Is she trained and able to understand about the controlled medications and its possibe side effects and adverse effect? What are defficiencies of the institution???

It is indeed that it’s nurses’ responsibilty to play as an advocate for their patient and prevent any harm. But it is Healthcare institution’s responsibility to foster safety and quality by initiating and fostering a continous education and training for nurses as well as safe staffing.

Please enligthen me, I hope you’re able to read this comment.

P.S. in your “42 years in nursing profession” as you have mentioned “responsibility”, you meant to say you never commit even a minor mistake in your career as a nurse? Just a question Ms. Gambito.

This is some honest mistake not intentional. Although it's a responsibility but putting too much pressure on someone would only make them commit more mistakes. That's the main reasons why people lie more about their mistakes or why they lose their effectiveness. Always remind each other of the danger while maintaining a healthy environment. Attending to hundreds of patients a day is stressful enough and we pile on that which isn't really helping the situation.

You cant be mixing and matching medicine as you please, kaya nga may manufacturer’s label. Kaya ayokong mag nurse, i used to work sa hospital setting as a unit front desk, aligaga ang mga nurses at stress na stress!

This is absurd for 8 years of imprisonment... Her licensed will be revoked.. Its also hard for her to find a job again.. Hope the family will forgive her.. Everybody makes mistakes with regards to medical procedure... I believe that this is a mistake but not an intention to do harm to the patient..

It's a good thing because nurse students can think twice before jumping into the fire.
Now the rest of us can quit nursing with no regrets.
