The Baker-Polito Administration today announced a second round of funding up to $130 million for nursing facilities to support COVID-19 response efforts over the next two months, as well as increased funding of $44 million for residential congregate care service providers. This funding will support staffing costs, infection control and personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition to increased financial support, the administration has implemented required testing for staff and residents of nursing facilities.

I totally agree- you can tell if a person is tested positive, but then what happens afterwards. Those patients who are asymptomatic can give it to someone who can seriously get sick from this. I would feel horrible if I gave it to my coworkers and they are in serious conditions.

My mother was accepted into a rehab facility that had an outbreak. We were not told of this active infection. She was there for physical therapy after a routine back surgery. Now, my mother is dead. The quality of care she received was horrid. We learned the facility now has well over 30 positive cases. I believe her treatment contributed to her death. She was only supposed to be at the skilled nursing home for less than a month. This was preventable. Giving me condolences doesn’t erase me watching my mother suffer via FaceTime after she needed to be admitted into the ICU. Your corrective action plan is reactive and plans should have been made long before this outbreak. Many nursing homes are for profit agencies. Tomorrow, I get my mother’s ashes. The elderly are arguably the most vulnerable. But don’t tell me this isn’t a money making industry. You can report concerns to the city then get deferred to the DPH. I am confident nothing is going to occur. My mother died horribly. This will never leave my memories. I cry every night for the pain she endured. Shameful.

Governor Baker, please start moving Mass to a mail in election we will not have time to do that properly if we have to wait until the summer to see how everything shakes out.

If you cared about essential employees you'd REQUIRE facial coverings instead of cowardly refusing to enact such an order. Such a lame duck governer. How much more blood do you want on your hands for refusing to enact such a simple order to protect people??
